Watercolour sketches - paint box and autumn

A couple more quick watercolour sketches from my journal. My messy paint box and some autumnal gatherings from a walk in the woods.
i'm using the Stillman and Birn Zeta series sketchbook which handles watercolour very well. No page buckling and the pages lay very flat.

Attempting a successful piece of art...

Attempting to produce a piece of art that I am satisfied with is a difficult task but it's something i have always aspired to.
I am embarking on an initiative to produce a painting or drawing that I like and am proud of.
This will mean throwing myself into painting (or drawing) any object lying around regardless of how uninspired I am feeling.
In order to succeed I am not going to tie myself to a painting a day, that may happen further down the line if all goes well. My intention is to try and do at least a couple of pieces a month though to begin with.

This is one of my first attempts. A couple of apples on a 'scrubby' rustic background.
There are aspects that have turned out OK. I quite like the muted palette but overall I can see a lot that I'd like to change.
